Actor Will Smith has shared his thoughts on the revelations in actress Jada Pinkett Smith’s candid new memoir. In a recent comment, Smith, aged 55, has broken his silence after his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, aged 52, made a public revelation about their seven-year separation. Responding to a request from the New York Times, Will Smith opened up about the impact of Jada’s new memoir, titled “Worthy.” He was reported to have said that the book “awakened” him and offered a fresh perspective. Smith also expressed that he had gained a deeper understanding of Jada’s resilience, intelligence, and compassion, qualities he hadn’t fully grasped.
In an email to the outlet, Will Smith reflected, “When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a kind of emotional blindness sets in, and you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties.”
Will’s comments came shortly after Jada Pinkett Smith’s revelation that she and Will, whom she married in 1997, have been leading separate lives but are committed to not pursuing a divorce. In an interview with NBC News, she explained, “I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever, and I just haven’t been able to break that promise.” She also acknowledged that by 2016, they were exhausted from trying and still holding onto certain expectations of each other.
Following the interview, a source revealed that Will and Jada’s children, Willow Smith, aged 22, and Jaden Smith, aged 25, are relieved that their mother has publicly acknowledged the separation. The insider mentioned, “Although Jaden and Willow love their mom and share many of her qualities, they are very relieved that the truth is finally out there. Everyone can move forward, as time is passing, and they all want to embrace authenticity and leave behind any lingering grudges or secrets.”
